Treasure House Theatre

You can see World Museum Liverpool's amazing collections really come to life in the new Treasure House Theatre. This exciting new attraction combines new technology with historic treasures from the archaeology, ethnology and natural science collections in special interactive shows led by museum demonstrators. With everything from hands-on activities examining ancient exhibits up close, to live video conference links, there's always something different going on.

The flexible theatre space has a regularly changing programme of shows and activities on different themes suitable for all age groups. These events are all inspired by items from the museum's collections, some of which can be seen in showcases around the theatre. In certain sessions you can even get your hands on some historic objects and examine them up close with the help of expert staff.

You can enjoy a unique experience of World Museum Liverpool and the wonderful objects it cares for through:

  • family shows for up to 80 people where you can discover the amazing stories behind some magnificent treasures from the collections.
  • live performances involving music and dance, linked to our collections
  • multimedia presentations, films and lectures by experts in their fields.

The following sessions are also being developed and will be available soon:

  • small group events where you can get close to or even handle specially chosen items and ask an expert member of staff your questions. Our demonstrators will introduce the objects and help you find out why they are treasures - sometimes the information they hold is more valuable than the objects themselves!
  • selected events which include video conferences linking up to people and places across the world.
