'Someone said, "Football is more important than life and death to you," and I said, "Listen, it's more important than that."'
Bill Shankly, former manager of Liverpool FC

Why do people love football? What does it mean to them? What does it mean to you? Only a Game? explores Europe and its most popular sport: football. Bringing together UEFA’s most prized trophies, historical artefacts from the last 50 years brought together by the National Football Museum, and stunning images from the great games, this interactive exhibition invites people of all ages to plunge into the emotions of football.

In our school playgrounds, playing fields and shiny stadiums, dreamers, players and supporters all belong to one family. Football gives us a sense of local and national identity. But does it also open our eyes to other cultures? Through football, can we see Europe in a different light?

Only A Game? is made up of eight zones where you can meet your footballing heroes, see their shirts, trophies and medals, and think about what European football means to you.
