Pupils from Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School in Liverpool and Mariama Ba School in Senegal took part in a session to create their own mind maps about the transatlantic slave trade.
During the workshop the students thought about the experiences of the slaves. They started with their capture in Africa and why they might have been taken. Then they considered the journey across the Atlantic and the terrible conditions the Africans endured, and then life in the Americas. The pupils then created these mind maps using text and images to represent their thoughts.
