Annual Black History Month Achievers Awards
The 4th annual Black History Month Achievers Awards will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on 25 October 2008. The awards recognise individuals and groups who have made a real contribution to the life and development of the Black and racial minority communities of Merseyside.
Nominations are invited in the following categories:
- Education: The Black History Month 2008 Achievers Award for recognition and celebration of an adult who has overcome obstacles to achieve success in education in Liverpool and Merseyside.
- Creative sector: The Black History Month 2008 Achievers Award for recognition and celebration of an individual or group who has made a valuable contribution in the field of the creative sector including entertainment, media or art in Liverpool and Merseyside.
- Business sector: The Black History Month 2008 Achievers Award for recognition of an individual or group who has contributed to the Black economic development of Liverpool and Merseyside.
- Sport: The Black History Month 2008 Achievers Award for recognition and celebration of an individual or group which has made an outstanding contribution to sport in Liverpool and Merseyside.
- Community achiever: The Black History Month 2008 Achievers Award for recognition and celebration of an individual or group which has made an outstanding contribution to community engagement, development or volunteering.
- Young person : The Black History Month 2008 Achievers Award for recognition and celebration of a young person in the Black community whose skills and attitude provide a positive role model to others in Liverpool and Merseyside.
- Public sector: The Black History Month 2008 Achievers Award for recognition and celebration of an individual or group in the public sector which has made an outstanding contribution to the Liverpool and Merseyside Black community.
- Community organisation: The Black History Month 2008 Achievers Award for recognition and celebration of a group which has provided outstanding service to the Black community of Liverpool and Merseyside.
- Male achiever of the year: The Black History Month 2008 Achievers Award for recognition and celebration of a male who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of the Liverpool and Merseyside Black community.
- Female achiever of the year: The Black History Month 2008 Achievers Award for recognition and celebration of a female who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of the Liverpool and Merseyside Black community.
- Lifetime achievement: The Lifetime Achievement Award is for recognition of an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the Liverpool and Merseyside Black community duringtheir lifetime.
- 2008 legacy award: Awarded to an individual, group or organisation whose contribution to Merseyside's economic or social enterprise development will leave a significant legacy for future generations.
